PARIS: Pakistan’s Muhammad Zubair was crowned Tekken 8 champion at the Esports World Cup (EWC) after defeating South Korea’s LowHigh in the final at Expo Porte de Versailles.
Overall, 32 players competed in the competition, held from 5 to 8 August, for a share of the prize pool. Zubair secured the title and claimed a $250,000 cash prize, along with 1,000 Club Championship points.
In the grand final, Zubair overcame LowHigh, one of the prominent names in the international Tekken arena, sealing a 5-0 win to claim the biggest title of his career.
Following his win, EWC shared a post on social media, hailing Zubair’s triumph.

Muhammad Zubair reached the final after defeating compatriot and eight-time Evolution Championship Series (EVO) winner Arslan Ash in a thrilling 5-4 semi-final on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Ash finished fourth after suffering a defeat to Australia’s Yagami.
Two months ago, Arslan Ash won the 2026 Evo series in Las Vegas, widely considered the world’s largest fighting game tournament, securing his fourth consecutive title.
For the unversed, Tekken is a world-renowned fighting game franchise. Other tournaments featured at the EWC include Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, League of Legends, Street Fighter, and Valorant.
