DAMBULLA: Reeza Hendricks’ quick-fire fifty powered Dambulla Sixers to a comprehensive six-wicket victory over Galle Gallants in the eighth fixture of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Wednesday.

Sixers chased down a 179-run target without breaking a sweat inside 16 overs.

After a shaky start in which they lost both of their openers, Sahizbada Farhan (13) and Niroshan Dickwella (14), Reeza Hendricks held the innings together. He top-scored with an unbeaten 64 off 37, featuring nine fours and a six.

The right-hander first stitched a 36-run partnership with Pavan Rathnayake, who contributed 29 off 11, to take the total to 70 at the end of the powerplay. Hendricks then followed it up with multiple stands of 69 and 41* with Marques Ackerman and Gulbadin Naib, both scoring 35 and 20 respectively.

Gulbadin capped off a thumping chase with a six as Sixers moved to second spot on the points table.

Galle Gallants used 10 bowling options, but none of the bowlers remained effective. Spinner Mohammad Nawaz gave away 40 in his three overs and picked up a wicket.

Earlier, Sam Harper’s 40 off 22 balls set up a solid platform for Galle Gallants to post a big total of 178-8 in their 20 overs.

After losing an early wicket for 14 inside two overs, Sam Harper and Charith Asalanka stitched a 64-run stand for the second wicket. Asalanka contributed 25 while Harper’s knock included three sixes and three fours.

After a solid partnership, Dambulla made their way back with three quick wickets, leaving Galle Gallants 107-4 in 12 overs.

Following the wickets, Chamika Karunaratne played a vital role in the last phase of the innings and scored 45 off 30 balls, including two sixes and four boundaries.

For Dambulla Sixers, Fazalhaq Farooqi scalped three, whereas Marques Ackerman also picked up two wickets.
