England fast bowler Brydon Carse has been dropped from the squad for the second Test against Pakistan, scheduled at Lord’s from 27 August.
Carse, 31, has been left out of the squad over a pending inquiry by the Cricket regulator on a nightclub incident.
Images that emerged on social media appeared to show Carse being handcuffed and escorted by four police officers on Saturday night in Derby.
Following the incident, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) launched an investigation and referred the matter to the regulator.
The Cricket Regulator investigates matters where there is an allegation of a breach of the ECB’s cricket regulations and has a range of outcomes available at the conclusion of the investigation.
These include no further action, caution, or bringing a charge for a breach of the regulations.
“Following a referral from the ECB, the Cricket Regulator have confirmed that they will investigate events on Saturday night in Derby,” the ECB statement read.

The board added that pacer Sonny Baker will replace Carse in the squad for the second Test.
“Brydon Carse will no longer be available for selection for the Second Men’s Rothesay Test Match while this investigation is ongoing and the full facts are obtained. Brydon will be replaced in the squad for this match by Sonny Baker.”
Carse was part of the squad for the first Test but was not involved in England’s victory over Pakistan in Headingley, where the hosts won by an innings and 103 runs inside three days.
Instead, he played for Durham in their County Championship match against Derbyshire in Derby, with the Division Two leaders securing a dramatic late victory.
After the match, some members of the Durham squad went out in Derby, with the evening ending on a sour note with this reported incident.
Pakistan trail 1-0 in the three-match series and need a win at Lord’s to keep the series alive.
