LONDON: Pakistan captain Babar Azam resumed training at Lord’s ahead of the second Test against England, starting 27 August.
Babar was seen batting in an indoor session, boosting Pakistan’s hopes ahead of the second match of the series.
The right-hander missed the opening Test at Headingley after suffering a bruised hand during Pakistan’s practice match against the Professional County Club (PCC) Select XI in Beckenham.
In Babar’s absence, all-rounder Salman Ali Agha led the Pakistan side as the visitors struggled badly, being bowled out for 171 in their first innings before collapsing to 135 in the second as England secured a commanding innings and a 103-run victory.
Babar was recently reappointed captain of the Pakistan Test side, taking over the reins from Shan Masood.

He previously led the side in Test cricket from 2020 to 2023, winning 10 of 20 matches, losing 6, and drawing 4.
Babar also played a crucial role with the bat in the series against West Indies, which Pakistan drew 1-1. The 31-year-old jointly shared the player of the series award with Justin Greaves for scoring 191 runs across four innings.
After the conclusion of the first Test match, stand-in skipper Salman Ali Agha remained hopeful of Babar’s comeback in a bid to boost Pakistan’s fragile batting lineup.
“Hopefully Babar will come back in the next match, and his presence will give a boost to our batting,” he had said.
