PORT OF SPAIN: Pakistan opener Abdullah Shafique carved his name into the history books with a magnificent unbeaten 160 against the West Indies on the third day of the second and final Test at Queen’s Park Oval on Tuesday, joining an exclusive list of the country’s batting greats in the Caribbean.
The 26-year-old produced a marathon innings to guide Pakistan to 387 in their first innings, securing a crucial 43-run lead after the hosts were bowled out for 344.
Resuming after lunch at 333-6, Pakistan added another 54 runs before losing their remaining four wickets, with Shafique carrying his bat through the innings in a display of patience and composure.
The right-handed batter faced 323 deliveries during his stay at the crease, striking 15 fours and three sixes on his way to registering the sixth Test century of his career.

His unbeaten 160 also earned him a place among some of Pakistan’s most celebrated batters, becoming only the fifth player from the country to score 150 or more in a Test innings against the West Indies on Caribbean soil.
Shafique now sits alongside Hanif Mohammad, Wazir Mohammad, Majid Khan and Saeed Ahmed on the prestigious list of Pakistan batters with the highest individual Test scores against the West Indies in the Caribbean.
Former Pakistan captain Hanif Mohammad continues to hold the record with his iconic 337 in Bridgetown in 1958, followed by Wazir Mohammad’s 189, Majid Khan’s 167 and Saeed Ahmed’s 150.

The landmark innings made the achievement even more special as it came in Shafique’s first Test appearance since October 2025, when he last represented Pakistan against South Africa on home soil.
