ABU DHABI: Tom Kohler-Cadmore scored a blistering 68 runs followed by a combined bowling effort to help Deccan Gladiators defeat New York Strikers by 22 runs in the opening match of the Abu Dhabi T10 League here at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.
After being invited to bat first, Deccan Gladiators posted 118 runs on board at a loss of eight wickets in their accumulative 10 overs.
Opening batter Tom Kohler-Cadmore led the charge for Gladiators with a 33-ball 68 with the help of four boundaries and six sixes before being substituted out.
Other than Kohler-Cadmore only two batters managed to reach double figures as Andre Russell scored 17 off 9, while Dan Lawrence scored 10.
Chamika Karunaratne led the bowling charts for Strikers with figures of 3-25 in his two overs.
Muhammad Jawadullah and Ali Khan also picked one wicket each.

In response, the New York Strikers slipped to 14-2 in the third over with both openers back to the dugout.
Muhammad Waseem and Asif Ali then played quick cameos of 26 and 24 runs respectively, but got out at crucial times to leave their team reeling at 84-5 in the ninth over.
Sunil Narine remained unbeaten at 10, with the team scoring 96 runs at the loss of six wickets in their accumulative 10 overs.
Northern Warriors and Morrisville Samp Army will face each other in the second match of the Abu Dhabi T10 League tonight.
The seventh season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League features eight teams – Team Abu Dhabi, New York Strikers, Northern Warriors, Deccan Gladiators, Bangla Tigers, Chennai Braves, Morrisville SAMP ARMY, and Delhi Bulls.
The teams will go head-to-head in a round-robin format with the four best-performing teams competing in the knockout stages with the final set to take place on 9 December.
