LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the resumption of men’s domestic cricket events on Monday after a brief postponement due to the prevailing situation in the country.
The cricket board postponed the ongoing domestic cricket events on Saturday due to escalating cross-border tensions between Pakistan and India.
However, tensions have alleviated following a ceasefire that was established on the same day. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has now announced that domestic cricket events will resume on 14 May.
“Starting today, the Regional Intra-District Challenge Cup and Inter-District U19 One-Day Tournament are back in action, ensuring competitive cricket continues at the grassroots level,” the PCB stated in a press release.
“Additionally, the President’s Trophy Grade II, which was also affected by the postponement, will restart from 14 May.
“The quarter-finals of the tournament will be played from 19 to 21 May, while the semi-finals will take place from 24 to 26 May. The final of the tournament will be held from 28 to 31 May.
“The PCB remains committed to fostering domestic cricket and providing opportunities for players to showcase their talent at various levels.”
Meanwhile, the PCB has also started initial groundwork to finalise the schedule of the remaining matches of PSL 10, but a concrete timeline is yet to be confirmed.
According to ARY News, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Pakistan Super League, Salman Naseer, has reached out to franchise representatives to gather updates on the current whereabouts and availability of their players.
The board’s priority, for now, is to assess the logistics and ensure that all key players can be part of the competition’s resumption.
