PCB announces schedule of U19 City Cricket Association tournament

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revealed the schedule for the inaugural Under-19 City Cricket Association, which will take place from May 21 to June 4 and will feature ninety-three teams from throughout the country.

The 50-over tournament is designed to convey young players with an opportunity to not only impress selectors for the next PCB U19 three-day and one-day tournaments but also to qualify for the inaugural Pakistan Junior League, which will be held in Lahore from October 1 to 15.

As per the format of the event, each City Cricket Association will be divided into groups based on the number of cities in the association, with each Cricket Association ultimately having a champion.

Balochistan features 13 Cricket Association, while Central Punjab 16, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 19, Northern 11, Sindh 17, and Southern Punjab 14. However, as per previous practise, each of the three Lahore Zones will field two teams, taking the overall tally of the team participating in the competition to 93.

Balochistan, Northern, and Southern Punjab CCA, on the other hand, will be split into three groups each. The group leaders from each Cricket Association will compete in knockout rounds to establish a champion team.

The squads of all the 93 squads will be announced in due course.
