Pakistan thump England to register fourth consecutive victory in World Blind Games

BIRMINGHAM: Pakistan blind cricket team on Thursday, registered their fourth consecutive victory in the ongoing International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) World Blind Games with a thumping six-wicket victory over hosts England in their final group stage game.

England, after opting to bat first, bundled out at a meagre 103 runs in 18 overs.

Wicketkeeper LJ Sugg top-scored with 25 runs, while, opening batter M Dean scored 13 runs. Except for these two, none of the batters managed to reach double figures, while three batters went back to the pavilion without opening their accounts.

Shahzaib Haider topped the bowling charts for Pakistan with four wickets, while Mohammad Shahzaib picked up two wickets.

Pakistan got off to a strong start in their chase, thanks to a solid 59-run opening stand between Matiullah and captain Nisar Ali before England blind team sent the captain back to the pavilion in the fifth over.

Nisar Ali top scored with 35 runs in 17 balls, with the help of four boundaries.

England picked two wickets, including Matiullah in the next over to reduce Pakistan to 66-3. Matiullah managed 22 runs off 12 balls.

However, they only managed to pick one more wicket before Pakistan blind team chased down the total in the 10th over.

Prior to this match, Pakistan blind cricket team on Wednesday, booked their spot in the final of the tournament with a resounding six-wicket victory over Australia.

Notably, Pakistan kick-started their World Blind Games campaign with an 18-run victory over arch-rivals India before handing a seven-wicket thrashing to Bangladesh on Tuesday.
