LAHORE: Uncapped right-arm fast bowler Qayyum Khan joined the fast bowler’s development camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) on Monday.
Qayyum, who hails from Jhang, Punjab, is tipped to be the next big thing in Pakistan cricket due to his raw pace.
Last month, Pakistan men’s team selector and Director of the High Performance Center Aqib Javed revealed details about pacer Qayyum.
“We have found a new gem from Jhang, Qayyum, who can bowl at 150 kmph and even faster,” Aqib Javed said, while admitting that Pakistan currently lacked genuine pacers and fast-bowling all-rounders.

“We want to train them enough this summer so that we can introduce them in the upcoming season. Pakistan cricket is incomplete without fast bowlers. Pakistan would have three to four bowlers who would bowl at 150. This is our mission, and we are close to accomplishing it,” he added.
The initial stage of the development camp, which runs for five days, is focused on fast bowlers and will be supervised by the NCA coaching staff.
Pakistan men’s white-ball assistant coach Ashley Noffke oversaw the bowlers’ action and fitness tests, along with target bowling drills.
The camp includes 20 bowlers — 12 pacers and eight spinners. Spinners will take part in a separate camp from 31 August to 4 September.
