KARACHI: The New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has paid the compensation amount to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for abruptly pulling out of the tour at the eleventh hour last year.

The amount of the compensation has not been revealed yet but as per the sources the PCB will make a handsome revenue from the New Zealand’s upcoming tour to the country.

The NZC has reportedly paid the compensation for the financial loss suffered by the PCB including hotel rents, security, marketing, broadcasting, and more.

Following this development, the working relationships between the cricket boards are likely to restore back to normal while New Zealand’s invitation to Pakistan to play a tri-nation series can be considered another.

Pakistan, on the other hand, will likely respond to the invitation after finalising the schedule of the England’s tour to the country in October.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Blackcaps pulled out of their scheduled Pakistan tour minutes before the commencement of the first ODI in Rawalpindi on September 17, 2021, and opted to return home, citing security concerns.

The cancellation also resulted in England withdrawing from their tour to Pakistan, which was scheduled a month later than that of New Zealand.

Following this challenging phase for the Pakistan Cricket, the chairman of PCB Ramiz Raja announced to address NZC at the International Cricket Council (ICC) and to ask the NZC pay the compensation.
