WATCH: Nepal's Kushal Bhurtel smashes record six sixes in over

Nepal opening batter Kushal Bhurtel on Sunday shattered record books against China by hitting six sixes in an over during the Asian Games Qualifier at the Singapore National Cricket Ground. 

After being put into bat first, Nepal racked up record 313 in 20 overs, thanks to explosive knocks from their opening batters.

Bhurtel produced an explosive 129 off 43, including five fours and 16 sixes, including six in a row. During the ninth over of the game, the right-hander took China bowler Chen Zhuo to the cleaners, tonking him for six sixes in the over.

The 29-year-old accumulated 37 from the over which also included a wide to make it the the second most expensive over in T20I cricket.

With this feat, he became the fifth batter to hit five sixes in T20Is. Previously, India’s Yuvraj Singh was the first batter to record the feat against England’s Stuart Broad during 2007 T20 World Cup match in Durban.

Notably, Bhurtel is also the second batter from Nepal after Dipendar Singh Airee to hit six consecutive sixes. His 16 sixes in the innings also helped him surpass Airee’s record of 89 most sixes for Nepal in Men’s T20Is.

Bhurtel’s 129 also became the Nepal’s second highest individual score in T20I cricket, only behind Kushal Malla 137* (50), which he recorded against Mongolia in 2023.
