LEEDS: Former England captain Michael Vaughan has backed the hosts to complete a 3-0 whitewash against Pakistan in the upcoming three-match Test series.

The series is currently underway at Headingley, with the two sides facing off in their first Test series in England since 2020.

Vaughan shared his prediction on social media platform X after a fan asked him to forecast the outcome of the series, with the former England batter confidently tipping the hosts to sweep the visitors.

“England will win 3-0,” Vaughan wrote.

Notably, Pakistan have endured a long wait for another Test series triumph in England, having last achieved the feat in 1996.

Led by Wasim Akram, Pakistan won that three-match series 2-1, completing their third consecutive Test series victory on English soil.

Pakistan had previously won the 1987 series under Imran Khan before Javed Miandad led the side to another series triumph in 1992.

England, meanwhile, hold the overall advantage in the Test rivalry between the two sides. The teams have faced each other 92 times in the longest format, with England winning 30 Tests, Pakistan securing 23 victories and 39 matches ending in draws.
