KARACHI: Pakistan’s left-handed opener Shan Masood who is representing Derbyshire Falcons in the ongoing Vitality Blast, has won the Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) Player of the Month Award for June.
Shan, who has been in outstanding form throughout the competition, garnered an astounding 649 runs in June with three Match MVPs, and he has now been honoured by being named the PCA Player of the Month for the second time.
The Falcons captain Shan expressed excitement on receiving the award and also claimed that maintaining his consistency while switching formats was a satisfying element for him.
“The most important requirement of the game is consistency, The game is fast and is evolving. People pick up on opposition and they catch you out so there is no time to fall asleep so you always have to evolve,” PCA quoted Shan.
“To back up my early season form and to win the award again shows the levels of consistency. The most exciting thing from a personal point of view was April was all about the red-ball game but this month was about a heavy fixture list with white and red-ball so by maintaining form and consistency in a month like June was the most satisfying element for me and to finish it with an award makes it most exciting,” the left-handed batter added.
Taking to Twitter, the PCA also shared the footage of the Derbyshire player and the Vice President of the association Anuj Dal presenting Masood with the silverware.
“Another expert presentation from the PCA Vice Chair to the leading run-scorer in the [County Championship]. The [Derbyshire] batter wins his second Player of the Month trophy in 2022!” the cricket association wrote.
