PALLEKELE: Rubin Hermann top-scored with 48 as Colombo Kaps secured a four-wicket win over Dambulla Sixers in the 17th fixture of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
Set 175 to win, the Kaps reached the target on the final ball of the 19th over, losing six wickets in the process.
Rubin Hermann anchored the chase in the first half of the innings, putting together a couple of crucial partnerships at the top. He first shared a 40-run stand with Sadeera Samarawickrama inside four overs, with the latter scoring 26. The South African then added another 39 runs with Ben McDermott.
Hermann was eventually dismissed for a 26-ball 48, which included four fours and a six.
After his departure, McDermott played a key role, sharing a 70-run partnership for the fourth wicket with captain Kamindu Mendis. However, both batters fell in quick succession after taking the score to 150 in the 15th over.
Mendis 39 from 28 was laced with five fours and a maximum, whereas McDermot hit a six and four boundaries in his 22-ball 33.
For Dambulla Sixers, Akila Dananjaya and Dushmantha Chameera shared four wickets between them.

Sahibzada Farhan was substituted out in the second over after managing only two from six deliveries before Dinesh Chandimal (12) and Pavan Rathnayake (8) went back in succession.
Consequently, the Sixers were reduced to 49-3 inside seven overs. However, Sikandar Raza and Reeza Hendricks laid a solid foundation with an 83-run stand. The duo lifted their side out of trouble as the scorecard read 132 in 16.3 overs.
Raza managed 23 off 25 with the aid of two fours, while Hendricks, who scored the bulk of runs in the partnership, top-scored. The right-hander was dismissed on the last ball of the 17th over after hitting three sixes and nine fours.
Meanwhile, Gulbadin Naib briskly scored 33 off 13, including four boundaries and two sixes, providing the innings with late momentum.
For Colomo Kaps, Shahnawaz Dahani picked up two wickets.
