COLOMBO: Rubin Hermann and Ravindu Fernando’s vital knocks lifted Colombo Kaps to a strong total against Galle Gallants in Qualifier 2 of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026 at the R Premadasa Stadium. 

Opting to bat first, Kaps overcame a shaky start and racked up 176 in 18.5 overs.

Galle Gallants bowlers reduced Kaps to 52-5 in six overs before Ravindu Fernando and Rubin Hermann forged a 70-run partnership off 40 balls to lift them out of trouble.

The duo brought the total to 122 in 13.5 overs. Fernando smashed five sixes and a four in his 48 off 27. Hermann, meanwhile, continued and stitched another 36-run stand, bringing the total over the 150-run mark.

He eventually departed after scoring 45 on 33 deliveries, hitting two sixes and three fours. Malsha Tharupathi also chipped in with a late cameo of 28 off 17, including three fours and a six.

For Gallants, Charith Asalanka and Sachindu Colombage shared four wickets between them.
