Khushdil Shah reshares post questioning Pakistan ODI squad

Pakistan all-rounder Khushdil Shah has questioned the national team’s selection for the three-match ODI series against Australia in a reshared post.

Khushdil reshared a post on the X account ‘Caught At Silly Point’, that criticized the national team selection.

“What the hell is wrong with the PCB? How on earth is Shadab still considered relevant in ODIs in 2026? This is a joke with Pakistan fans,” the post read.

“They are really mocking us now. Was this not a series to test a young pacer like Ali Raza or Ubaid Shah?” it added.

“And are we convinced that the Rizwan chapter is closed in ODIs? So his replacements, Rohail and Ghouri, would perfectly justify his replacement? Where is Saad Masood? You selected him in the previous series and now dropped him? Were you wrong then, or are you wrong now?”

Earlier today, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the squad for Australia with numerous changes, including the omission of Mohammad Rizwan.

The 16-member squad will continue to be led by Shaheen Shah Afridi. Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan, and Sufiyan Muqeem have returned after missing the away ODI series against Bangladesh earlier this year.

Shadab Khan will be playing in the 50-over format for the first time since the 2023 World Cup.

Pakistan have also handed opportunities to uncapped players Ahmed Daniyal, Arafat Minhas and wicketkeeper Rohail Nazir, all of whom were previously part of ODI squads but are yet to make their international debuts in the format.

Young wicketkeeper-batter Muhammad Ghazi Ghori retained his place in the squad after making his ODI debut during the Bangladesh series and will serve as one of the two specialist wicketkeepers alongside Rohail.

The home side will also be without the injured opening pair, Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub, both of whom continue rehabilitation under the supervision of the PCB medical panel.

Australia are set to arrive in Islamabad on May 23 ahead of the ODI series, which will begin at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on May 30. The remaining two matches will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium on June 2 and June 4.
