KARACHI: In a significant development for athletic sports in the country, Karachi has been designated as an official Marathon with a 42.195 km track receiving certification by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).
According to the details, World Athletics in cooperation with AIMS issued an international measurement certificate of Grade A to Karachi Marathon after a third-party assessment by Australia’s Kim Vivian.
With the official status, Karachi will host its first certified Marathon on December 25, 2022, which will be an official qualifier Marathon.
Karachi has now become a member of all marathons like Boston, New York, London, San Francisco, Berlin, Toyko, etc.
