Harbhajan decides ‘not to issue statements’ before Pak-India WC clash

KARACHI: Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has claimed that he will avoid issuing statements this time before the high-voltage game between arch-rivals India and Pakistan in the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled later this year.

The former spinner stated that he would not make any predictions about the Indo-Pak match and decided to refrain from hurling remarks before the game.

“We have another T20 World Cup this year, I won’t be giving any statement and won’t talk over who will win [between Pakistan and India] this time,” claimed Harbhajan during a conversation with Shoaib Akhtar on an Indian Sports website.

“Mauka Mauka or whatever, we will see what is going to happen as last time around, things went bad due to this.” regretted the off-spinner.

Last year, Harbhajan had to face humiliation after India’s crushing 10-wicket defeat against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup match, as he was heavily trolled for bragging about his team’s strength and unbeatable record before the match while suggesting that Pakistan should give a walk-over to India.

“I told Shoaib Akhtar that there’s no catch for Pakistan to play against India; you should give us a walkover. You’ll play, you’ll lose again, and you’ll be upset. Our squad is extremely solid, you’ve no chance” the former off-spinner had stated last year.

Pakistan and India are set to lock horns in a T20 World Cup match on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, later this year.
