PROVIDENCE: Farhan Yousaf’s fifty sealed a 16-run victory for Lahore Qalandars over Perth Scorchers XI in the opening match of the Global Super League (GSL) 2026 at Providence Stadium on Thursday.
Chasing 172, Scorchers could only muster 155-7 in their 20 overs. Usman Khan remained the top scorer, striking two sixes and three fours on his way to 41 off 32 balls.
Andre Fletcher and D’Arcy Short added 21 for the opening wicket before the latter fell was dismissed for eight.
Following the wicket, Joel Curtis joined Fletcher, with the pair stitching a 26-run partnership to lift Scorchers. Fletcher made 35 off 22, hitting seven fours.
Lahore Qalandars sensed an opening, but Usman Khan and Joel Curtis added a 47-run partnership for the third wicket to keep them at bay. The scorecard read 87 when Qalandars hit back with the wicket of Curtis, who made 14.

In the next over, Usama Mir cleaned up Ashton Turner (2) to keep the door ajar. Usman Khan kept his side in the hunt until he was dismissed in the 16th over. With his wicket, Lahore Qalandars gained a foothold in the match as the required run rate crept up.
Eventually, Scorchers fell short by 16 runs.
For Qalandars, Mohammad Imran and Usama Mir picked up two wickets each.
Earlier, Lahore Qalandars put on 171-7 in 20 overs, thanks to Shayan Jahangir’s and Farhan Yousaf’s half-centuries.
Jahangir provided stability at the top despite losing partners at the other end. He top-scored with 65 off 45, striking three sixes and eight fours.
The right-hander was dismissed in the 13th over when Qalandars were 97-4.
After his departure, Yousaf provided the innings with a late impetus through a quick-fire half-century. He made 50 off just 23 balls, laced with five sixes and three fours.
For Perth Scorchers XI, Jhye Richardson scalped three wickets in his quota of four overs.
