‘It’s just evil eye,’ Shaheen hilariously comments on his and Haris’ injury

KARACHI: Pakistan ace pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi hilariously commented on his and Haris Rauf’s injury and asserted that it is just the evil eye that resulted in the injuries of the two pacers.

Pakistan’s main pacers Shaheen and Haris attended a ceremony held by the Punjab Food Authority and interacted with the media.

In response to a question regarding the injuries both pacers endured that took them out of action, Shaheen wittingly claimed it is just the evil eye.

“We did not get injured it’s just evil. But there’s nothing to be worried of and by the will of almighty Allah, both of us will be seen in action fully fit,” Shaheen stated.

He then shared how the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) medical panel took care of him amid the rehabilitation of his knee injury that he sustained in the first Galle Test against Sri Lanka.

“I had the whole (PCB) medical panel with me and they were working on me, guiding me about my diet as per my physique and requirement since I had to recover in short term and play world cup for my team,” Shaheen shared.

“Of course, we are always here and are ready to sacrifice our lives,” he maintained.

The left-arm pacer then went on to respond to a question about his recovery before the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and asserted that it would only take them around two weeks.

“PSL is far away. By the will of almighty Allah we will be back in action in the next two weeks,” Shaheen said.

It is pertinent to mention that Shaheen recovered from his injury and represented Pakistan in the recently-held ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 before hurting his same knee during a fielding effort in the final against England.

Haris, on the other hand, rolled over the ball during a fielding effort on the first day of the Rawalpindi Test, which ruled him out of the remaining two matches of the historic series.
