Cricket South Africa withdraws racism charges from Mark Boucher

CAPE TOWN: The Cricket South Africa (CSA) has withdrawn disciplinary charges, including racism against the former captain and the current head coach of the Proteas, Mark Boucher, here on Tuesday.

In an official statement, CSA stated that there is no basis to sustain any of the disciplinary charges, including charges of racism against Boucher. Therefore, has formally and unreservedly withdrawn all of the charges.

“Cricket South Africa (CSA) has concluded that there is no basis to sustain any of the disciplinary charges, including charges of racism, against Mark Boucher, the coach of the Proteas Men’s cricket team. The Board of CSA has therefore formally and unreservedly withdrawn all of the charges,” the statement read.

It is pertinent to mention here that the CSA initiated to analyze the accusations after South Africa’s Social Justice and Nation Building (SJN) alleged former cricketer Boucher, alongside Ab De Villiers and Graeme Smith, guilty of racism.

The SJN launched an investigation after the former cricketers Makhaya Ntini and Paul Adam accused the trio guilty of racism.

Furthermore, the CSA has already cleared the former captain Smith from the racism charges earlier this month.

“Former Cricket South Africa (CSA) Director of Cricket, Graeme Smith has been
cleared by two independent arbitrators of racism allegations against him, which emanated from CSA’s Social Justice and Nation-Building (SJN) process,” the CSA stated in a press release.
