LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has slapped a one-year ban on South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch for breaching his Pakistan Super League (PSL) contract with Peshawar Zalmi.
Bosch was picked in the diamond category by Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi during the PSL 10 player draft earlier this year.
However, the all-rounder opted out of the PSL to join the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), a move that didn’t sit well with the PCB.
The board initially served Bosch with a legal notice, seeking a formal explanation for his decision.
Following internal proceedings and in line with the contractual obligations, the PCB has now confirmed a one-year ban on Bosch from the PSL, along with an undisclosed financial penalty.
“The all-rounder will serve a one-year ban and will not be eligible for selection in next year’s Pakistan Super League,” the board stated.
Due to a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) signed between Bosch and the PCB, the financial details of the penalty have not been made public.
In an official statement shared by the PCB, Bosch acknowledged his mistake and issued an apology to Zalmi fans and the wider Pakistani cricket community.
“I deeply regret my decision to withdraw from the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) and offer my sincere apologies to the people of Pakistan, the fans of Peshawar Zalmi and the wider cricket community,” Corbin Bosch said.
He added that he accepts full responsibility for his actions and is prepared to serve the ban and financial penalty.
“I take full responsibility for my actions and accept the consequences, including the penalty fine and the one-year ban from the HBL PSL,” he added.
“This has been a hard lesson, but I am committed to learning from this experience and hope to return to the HBL PSL in the future with renewed dedication and the trust of the fans,” he concluded.
