MUMBAI: India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 due to a back injury, Indian media reported.
According to the details, India’s senior pacer Bumrah, who last played an away ODI series against England, is likely to miss the upcoming Asia Cup as a result of a gruelling back injury which would require some time to heal.
Reports further suggest that the Indian squad for the Asian event will be announced on Monday but there is no clarity if the announcement will be made on the same day.
“Jasprit Bumrah has a back injury and will not play in the Asia Cup. He is our main bowler and we would like him to be back in action before T20 World Cup. We can’t risk him in Asia Cup and the injury could aggravate,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on the condition of anonymity.
It is pertinent to mention here that Bumrah is currently enjoying vacations with his family in the United States. His injury is considered a major setback for the defending champions while the young pacer Avesh Khan is likely to replace the veteran in the continental event.
