MELBOURNE: Pakistan’s tennis star Aisam Qureshi, alongside his Japanese partner Makoto Ninomiya reached the quarterfinal stage of the ongoing Australian Open Tennis Championship, here on Sunday.
The Pak-Japenese duo of Aisam and Ninomiya breezed past the Ukrainian/Kazakh pair of Andrey Golubev and Lyudmyla Kichenok by the score of 6-3,6-4 in the second-round match.
The pair broke their opponent’s serve once in each set to win in sets; sealing a comfortable victory.
Following this victory, Aisam-Ninomiya have now qualified for the knockout stages; securing a quarterfinal spot in the Australian Open.
