KARACHI: Pakistani Bodybuilding team comprising 10 athletes is set to feature in the 54th Asian Bodybuilding Championship, scheduled from July 16 to July 21 in the Maldives.
According to the Pakistan Body Building Federation (PBBF), 10 bodybuilders have been selected through open trials to participate in the event, which will feature athletes from 35 countries.
The Pakistani team under the coaching of Fahad Siddiqui comprises Mudassir Khan, Farhan Bashir, Anis Hanif, Umar Shahzad, Mohammad Amin, Saeed Faisal, Mohammad Azeem, Syed Fazal Ilahi, Shahzad Ahmed Qureshi.
Meanwhile, Sohail Anwar and Maria Memon will serve as judges in the competition.
Speaking about the selection of athletes for the upcoming competition, PBBF secretary Sohail Anwar said they had selected bodybuilders as per merit.
“We have selected bodybuilders through open trial and purely on merit,” he said. “The team will depart for the Maldives on July 14,” he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that 500 athletes will compete in 16 different categories of the upcoming bodybuilding event.
