Zulqarnain Haider suffers from severe ailment, seeks support from PCB

KARACHI: Former Test cricketer Zulqarnain Haider suffered a severe abdominal infection and underwent surgery, which resulted in stagnating his health and financial conditions.

According to the details, the former wicket-keeper batter was playing a competitive league in Oman, where he consumed stale food and eventually sustained a severe abdominal infection.

Following his contraction to the infection, the former cricketer underwent surgery but that too did not help to achieve complete recovery.

“I was busy playing a league in Oman. Meanwhile, I ate stale food somewhere and it caused serious infection in my [amdomen]. Due to expensive treatment abroad, I preferred coming to Pakistan and get my surgery done,” Zulqarnain stated.

“After surgery, now I am feeling weak and can’t even walk properly. A team from PCB has visited me in the hospital and I hope the board will clear my bills,” he further revealed.

Zulqarnain’s daughter, on the other hand, requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to a cricket-related job for his father.

“My father has played cricket all his life and served Pakistan. PCB should hire him for a cricket-related job so that he remains with us,” she said.

It is pertinent to mention here that Zulqarnain represented Pakistan in eight international matches from 2007 to 2010 before putting a controversial end to his brief career as he left the national team overnight during the Dubai tour.
