ABU DHABI: Bangla Tigers thumped Chennai Braves in their T10 League fixture as their opening batter Hazratullah Zazai played a blistering knock.
After being invited to bat first by the Tigers’ skipper Faf Du Plessis, Chennai Braves’ batters found difficult to hit boundaries and they kept struggling throughout the innings and were only be able to score 89 for the loss of four wickets in their allotted overs. The side lost their opening batter Toby Albert (2 runs off 4 deliveries) when there were only 18 runs on the board. Right-handed opening batter. Mohammad Shahzad showed fighting spirit but could not go big as the batter was sent back to the pavilion by Qais Ahmed for 32 runs. Shahzad was the top-scorer for his side.
Luke Fletcher was the stand-out bowler for the Tigers as he bagged two wickets for just 17 runs. Whereas, Luke Wood and Ahmed took one wicket each.
Tigers’ batters on the other hand showed contrasting performance as their both openers fired for them. Johnson Charles made a blistering 30 off just 15 balls while Zazai proved even more dangerous for the opposition as he smoked five sixes and two boundaries for his 46 runs off just 16 deliveries. The Afghan batter was adjudged as the player of the match for his brilliant knock.
Roman Walker was the only bowler from Braves to open his account as the rest of the bowlers went wicket-less.
Tigers’ victory against Braves earned them the top position on the points table. Whereas, Braves remained at the bottom.
