ABU DHABI: Zawar Farid followed his magnificent half-century with economical bowling figures of 1/14 and aided Emirates Blue’s dominant 18-run victory over Dubai in the 35th match of the ongoing Emirates D10 League.
Put into bat first, Emirates Blues managed to pile up a mammoth total of 104/3 in 10 overs at the back of a brilliant knock by their opener Zawar Farid.
Farid and his opening partner Alishan Sharafu laid a solid foundation for a massive total with a vital 50-run partnership that lasted when Shahid Nawaz got rid of Sharafu in the sixth over.
Sharafu scored a brisk 27 in just 20 deliveries, hitting four boundaries and a six.
Zawar Farid, on the other hand, stood his ground firm and put on a crucial second-wicket partnership with Shalom Dsouza (8) and added 46 runs to the total before both batters fell in the final over.
Farid remained the top-scorer for Emirates Blues with his sensational 27-ball 58 which featured five boundaries and four sixes.
For Dubai, only Shahid Nawaz and Jaiditya Malik could pick up a wicket each.

Set to chase a massive 105, Dubai could only accumulate 86/6 in as many overs despite a decent start by their openers.
Dubai openers Ronak Panoly and Aryan Lakra laid a subtle foundation with a 34-run partnership before the core aggressor of the stand Lakra fell victim to Harit Shetty. He scored a quickfire 30 off just 16 balls with the help of four boundaries and a six.
Following Lakra’s dismissal, Panoly stitched a cautious 24-run partnership with Syed Haider Shah, who struggled against Emirates Blues bowlers on his way to a scratchy nine-ball eight.
Shah’s dismissal triggered a match-defining collapse and Dubai, consequently slipped from 58/2 to 68/6 in the span of 16 deliveries which prevented the side from amassing the total.
Sabir Rao led the bowling attack for Emirates Blues with 3/14 while Zawar Farid, Harit Shetty and Unaib Rehman struck out a batter each.
