Former Pakistan captain Zaheer Abbas shifted to ICU in London hospital

LONDON: Former Pakistani captain Zaheer Abbas has been shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a local private hospital here, his family told on Tuesday.

Abbas, who was brought to the hospital three days ago, later required oxygen assistance. The cricketer’s family has asked his supporters to pray for a quick recovery.

Sources claim that Abbas contracted COVID-19 while he was travelling to England from Dubai. He complained of kidney trouble after arriving in the English capital, and pneumonia was later determined to be the cause.

Following his ailment, former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez took to Twitter and prayed for the speedy recovery of the legendary batter.

It is pertinent to mention here that Abbas represented Pakistan in 78 Tests and 62 ODIs and also served as the President of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
