DUBAI: India’s batting prodigy Yashasvi Jaiswal climbed four spots and moved within touching distance of Pakistan’s Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in the latest ICC T20I Batting Rankings.
Jaiswal was part of India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup winning squad last month, however, he did not get to play a single match in the tournament.
Following the World Cup, he participated in the away series victory against Zimbabwe under the captaincy of Shubman Gill.
Yashasvi Jaiswal returned with scores of 36, 93* and 12 in the three matches during the Zimbabwe tour.
The 22-year-old is currently ranked sixth in the T20I batting rankings with 743 points only three points shy of fifth-ranked Mohammad Rizwan. Meanwhile, Babar Azam is sitting in fourth position with 755 points.
Meanwhile, Gill made a big leap of 36 places to reach the 37th spot after finishing the Zimbabwe series as the highest run-scorer with 170 runs in five games.
Australia’s top-order batter Travis Head is leading the batting rankings with 844 points, followed by India’s Suryakumar Yadav and England’s Phil Salt with 797 points each.
Moreover, in the ICC T20I Bowling Rankings, Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani jumped 11 spots to reach 44th after finishing with six wickets in the series against India.
On the other hand, India’s Washington Sundar gained 36 spots to 46th and Mukesh Kumar rose 21 places to reach 73rd spot.
Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza also earned the reward for his all-round performance in the series as he moved one place to third in the ICC T20I All-rounder Rankings.
