PORT OF SPAIN: Pakistan moved up one place in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 standings after defeating the West Indies by eight wickets in the second and final Test to level the two-match series.
The victory, Pakistan’s second in six matches of the current WTC cycle, lifted the Green Shirts from the bottom of the table to seventh place with a points percentage of 22.22.
West Indies, meanwhile, slipped to the bottom of the standings after their 10th defeat-related setback in the cycle, with their points percentage dropping to 20.83 after managing just two victories in 12 Tests.
Australia continue to dominate the WTC table, having won seven of their opening eight matches to collect 84 points and an impressive winning percentage of 87.50.
Defending champions South Africa occupy second place with three victories from four Tests and a points percentage of 75.00.
New Zealand sit third with 72.22, followed by Bangladesh (58.33), India (48.15), Sri Lanka (41.67), England (24.36), Pakistan (22.22) and West Indies (20.83).

Pakistan entered the Caribbean series following a major leadership change, with star batter Babar Azam replacing Shan Masood as Test captain. However, the new era began with a disappointing 90-run defeat in the opening Test at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.
The visitors responded strongly in the second Test at Queen’s Park Oval, producing an all-round display to register their first away Test victory since July 2023.
After being put in to bowl, Pakistan conceded 344 in the first innings despite reducing the hosts to difficult positions at various stages. Justin Greaves and captain Roston Chase both struck resilient half-centuries to help West Indies post a competitive total.

Pakistan’s reply was built around a marathon unbeaten 160 from Abdullah Shafique, who carried his bat through the innings, while captain Babar Azam added a valuable half-century as the visitors posted 387, securing a crucial 43-run first-innings lead.
The hosts were then dismantled in the second innings as Pakistan’s spin attack took control. Sajid Khan and Ali Usman claimed four wickets apiece to bundle West Indies out for just 117, leaving Pakistan a modest target of 75.
The chase proved straightforward as Pakistan reached the target with eight wickets in hand. Shafique and Babar remained unbeaten on 24 each, sharing an unbroken 33-run stand to seal the victory and complete a memorable comeback after the disappointment of the series opener.
