HAMILTON: India’s left-handed top-order batter Yastika Bhatia scored a brilliant half-century before Sneh Rana bagged four wickets to power their side to a comprehensive 110-runs victory over Bangladesh, in the 22nd match of the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup 2022.
Batting first, India scored a commendable 229/7 in the allotted 50 overs, thanks to the brilliant knock of Yastika, who top-scored with 50 off 80 deliveries; smashing two boundaries.
India’s opening batters Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana also chipped in and bolster the side to a decent total. Shafali scored a run-a-ball 42, while Mandhana followed back with 30.
India’s all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar then scored a crucial 30 down the order and took India to 229/7 in 50 overs.
For Bangladesh, Ritu Moni bagged three wickets, while Nahida Akter took two. Jahanara Alam, on the other hand, made one scalp.
In the run chase, Indian bowlers, led by Snehm, wreaked havoc over Bangladesh’s batting line-up; bowling out the latter on a mere 119.
The right-handed experienced batter Salma Khatun resisted a bit alongside Lata Mondal, but they too could not steer their side to the triumph. Salma top-scored with 32, while Lata scored 24.
The rest of the Bangladesh batters could not contribute significantly in the run chase thus handing an easy 110 runs victory to India.
For India, Sneh shone with four wickets, while Pooja and Jhulan Goswami picked two wickets each. Poonam Yadav and Rajeshwari Gayakwad, on the other hand, made one scalp each.
