Wicket-keeper Sidra Nawaz recovers from COVID-19

KARACHI:  Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team wicket-keeper, Sidra Nawaz has recovered from the widely spread virus and is set to join the team’s training camp here tomorrow for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.

After completing a seven-day isolation period at her home, Sidra has returned a negative PCR test. Sidra will now join the camp for the world cup tomorrow after her recovery.

Pakistan team’s pacer – Ghulam Fatima also contracted the virus earlier this week and has been sent to isolation.

With her contraction of the virus, the isolation of the women’s squad was extended for three days.

Following the isolation period, the squad was due to undergo another round of testing on January 31, with training camp restarting on February 1 if all members of the squad returned negative results.

It is worth mentioning here that the upcoming Women’s World Cup 2022, will kick off on March 4 with the hosts New Zealand taking on the West Indies in the curtain-raiser, while the final of the event will be played at Hagley Oval on April 3.

Pakistan will start their World Cup campaign against the arch-rival India on March 6 at Bay Oval. The green shirts will play seven matches against the remaining teams. The top four teams from the group of eight participants will then qualify for the Semi-finals.
