Babar, Rizwan propel Pakistan to whitewash West Indies in T20I series

KARACHI: Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan scored match-winning opening partnership of 158 runs to help Pakistan complete whitewash against West Indies in T20I series here at National Stadium. 

Set to chase highest-ever total at National Stadium, Pakistani openers continued their solid form of this year and smashed unbeaten 158 runs.

Rizwan smashed 87 runs off 45 balls including 10 boundaries and three sixes whereas Babar made 79 laced with nine boundaries and two sixes.

In the end, Asif smashed 21 off seven balls to hand convincing victory to Pakistan. He struck two boundaries and as many sixes.

For West Indies, Romario Shepherd, Odean Smith and Dominic Drakes shared a wicket apiece.

Earlier, West Indian batters took complete hold over Pakistani bowlers as they smashed highest-ever T20I total (207-3) of National Stadium.

After deciding to bat first, West Indian openers provided a solid start to their team with 66-run opening stand. Brandon King (43) and Shamarh Brooks (49) played solid shots all around the park.

Later on, skipper Nicholas Pooran smashed 64 runs off 37 balls including two boundaries and six maximums to help West Indies put up highest T20I total at National Stadium.

Darren Bravo remained not out for 34 including three boundaries.

For Pakistan, Mohammad Wasim Jr bagged two wickets while Shahnawaz Dahani took a wicket.
