ICC U19 WC: Teague Wyllie drives Australia to victory against West Indies

PROVIDENCE: Teague Wyllie smashed 86 runs to help Australia chase down 170 runs with six wickets in hand against West Indies in ICC U19 World Cup’s opener.

Set to chase 10 runs in 50 overs, Australia lost their opener Corey Miller earlier but Wyllie stood firm to make his team chase the target with an ease.

Nivethan Radhakrishnan contributed 31 runs including four boundaries for his team. Skipper Cooper Connolly made 23.

Johann Layne, Shiva Sankar, Onaje Amory, and Matthew Nandu shared a wicket apiece.

Earlier, West Indies were bowled out for 169 after they decided to bat first. Captain Ackeem Auguste scored well-fought 57 runs for them comprised over eight boundaries. Rivaldo Clarke made 37.

Tom Whitney, Nivethan Radhakrishnan, and Cooper Connolly bowled brilliantly and took three wickets each for Australia.
