‘We will take the matter to ICC’ Ramiz over Afghan fans’ enraged behaviour

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ramiz Raja on Thursday announced to raise the issue with International Cricket Council (ICC) about hooliganism and the Afghan team fans’ violent conduct towards Pakistani fans inside the Sharjah stadium after the national team defeated Afghanistan in a nail-biting encounter on Wednesday.

“You don’t identify hooliganism with cricket,” said PCB Chairman during a press conference. “It ruins the atmosphere which cannot be afforded in the cricket”

“This is not the first time that this (incident) has happened. Winning or losing is part of the game. Emotions must be kept in check because if you cannot build such an atmosphere you cannot proceed as cricket playing nation.” he added.

Following the defeat of the Afghan team, disturbing videos of Afghan fans, damaging the stands and assaulting Pakistani fans went viral on social media.

“We’ll definitely write to the ICC and show our concerns because we owe our fans and anything could’ve happened to them. Even our cricket team could have been at risk. We will share our protest with ICC and take action according to the protocols.” he said.
