BIRMINGHAM: Indian star batter Virat Kohli and England’s Jonny Bairstow engaged in a fierce exchange of words on the third day of rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston.
The incident took place when former Indian captain Kohli walked towards the on-strike batter Bairstow from the slips and exchanged bitter words after he was dodged by an inswinging delivery by Mohammed Shami.
The on-field umpires intervened to keep both the players calm as the situation heated up.
Meanwhile, Bairstow continued with his sublime form and scored a century in a bid to steer his side towards a competitive total.
It is pertinent to mention here that Bairstow and skipper Ben Stokes resumed the play on the third day with the overnight score of 84/5 after India completely dominated the hosts on the second day of Edgbaston Test.
