Wahab Riaz takes charge as advisor to CM Punjab

LAHORE: Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz has finally taken charge of his office, nearly two months after he was appointed as advisor to Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on sports and youth affairs.

On Wednesday, Wahab walked into his office at National Hockey Stadium in the provincial capital for the first time and held a meeting with ace Javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem.

Earlier, secretary sports Punjab Shahid Zaman and DG sports Mohammad Tariq Qureshi briefed the newly-appointed advisor about the sports affairs in the province.

On the occasion, Wahab resolved to take every possible step for the development of sports in the most populous province of the country.

“We will make sure to utilise all the resources and take all stakeholders on board,” he added.

Meeting with Arshad Nadeem

Commonwealth Games gold medalist Arshad Nadeem called on the caretaker sports advisor on the latter’s first day in office as the two discuss the issues faced by the athletes in Punjab.

Taking to Twitter, Wahab shared pictures of the meeting and said he “will definitely look into the problems he highlighted and find solutions for the betterment of sports facilities and athletes across all sports.”

It may be noted that Wahab was appointed as sports minister in Punjab’s caretaker cabinet in the last week of January. However, he had not taken the oath of his office because of his commitment to the Pakistan Super League season 8.
