Usman Wazeer announces to set up boxing academy in an orphanage

ISLAMABAD: Usman Wazeer, World Boxing Council (WBC) Middle East champion, announced to establish a boxing academy in a local orphanage within a month, here on Thursday.

Usman announced the establishment of a boxing academy during his visit to the orphanage while addressing at the ceremony.

“The boxing academy will train children under the supervision of domestic and foreign coaches,” Usman said.

“In the next six months, the athletes will be ready to represent Pakistan in a boxing event,” he added.

Usman while acknowledging the founder of the orphanage also announced to donate a part of his earning from his fights to the orphanage. Usman is also optimistic that the orphanage and the boxing academy will produce talented players in the future.

While addressing the ceremony, Usman also disclosed that he accidentally became a boxer as the Asian Boxing Champion used to be a footballer in his early days.
