KARACHI: Pakistan’s leg-spinner Tuba Hassan shone on her debut to propel the side to beat Sri Lanka by six wickets in the first T20I, here at Southend Club on Tuesday.
After opting to bat first, the Sri Lankan batting line-up failed and could only manage to post 106/8 in the allotted 20 overs as the debutant Tuba shone with her amazing bowling figures; taking three wickets for a mere eight runs.
Sri Lanka’s top-order batter Harshitha Madavi and Nilakshi de Silva top-scored for the side as they both scored 25 each. The wicket-keeper batter Anushka Sanjeewani and Ama Kanchana followed back with 16 and 12 respectively. Whereas, the rest of the batters could not get to the double-figures.
For Pakistan, Anam Amin also took three wickets but remained less economical than Tuba. Aiman Anwer, on the other hand, took two wickets.
Set to chase a mere 107, Pakistan sailed over swiftly in the 19th over with six wickets in hand.
The Green Shirts also had a poor and inconsistent start to their innings as the side kept losing wickets at a regular interval before the skipper Bismah Maroof and Nida Dar produced a match-winning 51 runs partnership to keep the side out of the danger.
Bismah scored a brilliant 28 off 32 balls while Nida top-scored with an unbeaten 36. She faced 27 deliveries and smashed two boundaries and a six.
For her brilliant bowling spell on debut, Tuba won the Man of the Match Award.
