Trophy unveiled as Pakistan to take on West Indies in ODI series

MULTAN: The trophy for the ODI series between Pakistan and West Indies has been unveiled here at Multan Cricket Stadium, ending 14 years of wait for the stadium to host a 50-overs international match.

The trophy of the ODI series was revealed by Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam and his West Indies counterpart Nicolas Pooran before both the captains posed with the trophy.

Earlier, both teams held practice sessions in the scorching heat of Multan. Players from both teams trained in batting, bowling, and fielding drills.

The three-match ODI series will start tomorrow, with the remaining two matches to be played on June 10 and 12 at the same venue.

The ODI series is part of the ICC Super League cycle as both sides will try to secure points to further their chances for direct qualification in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. An ODI win in the super league fixture adds 10 points to a team’s tally. Currently, Pakistan have the 10th position in the Super League standings with 60 points whereas the West Indies are in the 4th spot with 80 points.
