Team Abu Dhabi triumph over Deccan Gladiators in T10 League

ABU DHABI: Team Abu Dhabi registered an 8-runs win over the Deccan Gladiators thanks to their skipper Liam Livingstone who smashed 59 runs to help his team register seventh win in Abu Dhabi T10 League.

Wahab Riaz, the Gladiators’ captain, won the toss in the league’s 25th match and invited the opposing batters to bat first. In response, Abu Dhabi’s openers could not get off to a strong start, as Paul Stirling was dismissed on a two-ball duck with just 13 runs on the board. Salt was looking good, but he couldn’t keep it up for long, as he was dismissed for 22 off just 9 deliveries by Odean Smith.

The skipper – Livingstone, on the other hand – played a blistering knock of 59 runs off only 24 deliveries and turned the game in his favor. Six maximums and three boundaries were part of his inning. Later in the innings, Colin Ingram went after the Gladiators’ bowlers, scoring a quickfire 25 off just 11 deliveries to help his side reach a decent total of 125/4 in the allotted ten overs. The rest of their batters were unable to contribute significantly to the team’s total.

Tymal Mills, the Gladiators’ bowler, took two wickets but was expensive. Riaz and Smith each took a wicket.

Gladiators batters began their innings in a similar manner, as the team lost both of their openers cheaply. Tom Kohler-Cadmore was bowled for a golden duck by Sheldon Cottrell, while Tom Moore only managed to score 16 off nine deliveries. Anwar Ali, on the other hand, played a brilliant knock to get his team back into the game, but he, too, fell short as the batter was dismissed by Merchant de Lange for a stunning 42 off 20 deliveries.

David Wiese, who scored 27 off 10 deliveries, also fought back and went hard at the opposing bowlers until he was sent back to the pavilion after being run-out. The remaining batters were unable to make an impact with the bat, and their team fell eight runs short in the end, handing Abu Dhabi their seventh victory of the tournament.

Cottrell and de Lange each took two wickets. Naveen-ul-Haq and Jamie Overton, on the other hand, each dismissed one batter.

Abu Dhabi’s victory over the Glaiators vaulted them to the top of the points table. Gladiators, on the other hand, demoted to the second position.
