Tahlia McGrath claims ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award

DUBAI: Australia all-rounder Tahlia McGrath has been named ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year for 2022.

McGrath claimed the prestigious award as she overpowered Pakistan’s Nida Dar, India’s Smriti Mandhana and New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine – the other three nominees in the category.

“The winner of the ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year had a 2022 to remember,” said ICC as it revealed the winner of the award on Wednesday.

During her meteoric rise last year, McGrath amassed 435 runs in 16 matches at an impressive average of 62.14 along with 13 wickets.

Her impactful all-around contributions earned her side a gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where she scored 128 runs in five matches, averaging 42.66.

While she was voted the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for August 2022, she currently sits at the top of the ICC T20I batting rankings.
