T10 League: Deccan Gladiators seal a thumping victory over Delhi Bulls

ABU DHABI: Deccan Gladiators’ Tom Banton and Najibullah Zadran powered their side to chase down the target of 95 in seventh over.

Deccan Gladiators’ captain Wahab Riaz after winning the toss invited the Bulls’ batters to bat first. Batting first, Bulls could not manage to start of their innings well as the side lost their first wicket with just eight runs on the board as their opening batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz sent back to the pavilion by Wahab. Luke Wright and Dominic Drakes tried to tackle the situation but their stand was broken by Sultan Ahmed and the side lost their second wicket for 37. Soon after wickets began to tumble consistently and they were restricted to 94/6 in their allotted 10 overs. Romario Shepherd was their stand-out batter as he scored 26 off 10 deliveries.

Gladiators’ bowlers did well and were economical too. Wanindu Harasanga and Tymal Mills took two wickets each. Whereas, Wahab and Sultan dismissed one batter each.

Gladiators’ start to their innings was not any different as they also lost their first wicket early as their opener Tom Kohler-Cadmore was bowled out by Akeal Hosein. However, Banton and Zadran played brilliant innings and scored an important partnership. Zadran scored quickfire 35 off just 11 deliveries, smoked four sixes and two boundaries. Banton, however, was the stand-out batter for the side as he scored 46 not-out on just 18 balls including 2 sixes and seven boundaries.

Only Adil Rashid and Hosein were managed to take wickets for their side as both took one wicket each.

With this victory, Deccan Gladiators has now moved on top of the table. Whereas, Delhi Bulls standing at fourth position.
