Sydney Thunder beat Brisbane Heat in Big Bash League’s second match

CANBERRA: Sydney Thunder beat Brisbane Heat by seven wickets in the second game of the Big Bash League at the Manuka Oval on Monday.

After being invited to bat first, in the second match of the tournament. Heat’s batters struggled from the start, losing two wickets for just 16 runs.

Ben Duckett and Sam Heazlett, on the other hand, showed resistance and put on a strong 83-run partnership. The pair looked solid but could not go big to help their side post a decent total. Failures from the rest of batters also halted the Heat and the side were eventually restricted to 140/8.

Heazlett scored 42 runs off 37 balls laced with three boundaries, while Duckett smashed 46 off 35 balls, including four boundaries.

Thunder, in response to Heat’s 140, also started off poorly, losing three wickets for 32 runs. The side seemed to be in all sorts of trouble, but, Sam Billings and Alex Ross recorded a match winning 89-run partnership and get their side to victory.

Billings scored 44* off 36 deliveries, laced with five boundaries and a maximum, while Alex smashed a magnificent 61* off 46, including seven boundaries and two sixes.

For Heat, Liam Guthrie took two wickets, while Xavier Bartlett struck out a batter.

Ross, for his brilliant knock of 61* and two catches, was adjudged as the player of the match.
