Stoinis accuses Hasnain of chucking after getting out in The Hundred

LONDON: Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis sparked controversy on Sunday as he seemingly accused the Pakistan young gun Mohammad Hasnain of chucking amid the 14th match of The Hundred 2022.

In the first inning of the match between Southern Braves and Oval Invincibles, the latter’s speedster Hasnain banged in at 88mph; leaving Stoinis to slice it to the mid-wicket, who managed to score 37 off 27 deliveries, laced with two boundaries and two sixes.

Stoinis, who top scored for the Braves, mimicked Hasnain’s bowling action and took a not-so-subtle jab at the 22-year-old, who had his action reported earlier this year during the Big Bash League (BBL).

Hasnain was found guilty of having an illegal bowling action and was suspended from bowling earlier this year after umpire Gerard Abood reported it in the BBL match between Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers on January 2.

Following the suspension, the 22-year-old rectified his bowling action under the supervision of the National High-Performance Centre (NHPC) bowling coach Umar Rasheed.

In May, the right-arm pacer underwent a bowling action test at a local laboratory in Lahore. After which Hasnain was deemed clear and received a green signal for playing competitive cricket.

Here’s how the cricket fraternity reacted:
