TOWNSVILLE: Australian seamer Mitchell Strac reached another milestone of his career as he became the quickest bowler to take 200 ODI wickets breaking Pakistan’s former spinner Saqlain Mushtaq’s record, set in 1999.
Starc bagged his 200th wicket when he dismissed tail-ender Ryan Burl in the third ODI against Zimbabwe in Townsville on Saturday, as the touring side made history by defeating mighty Australia for the first time at home.
Starc reached the landmark in his 102 ODI appearances, surpassing Saqlain who previously held the record for 23 years as he took 104 matches to record 200 wickets. Starc has also broken Brett Lee’s record of being the quickest Australian to reach the landmark.
