Sri Lanka suffered a major blow ahead of the white-ball home series against India as fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera has been ruled out of the series due to an injury.
According to the Sri Lankan media reports, the nature of the injury is known as of now. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) will name a replacement soon, with Asitha Fernando being the front-runner to take Chameera’s place.
Dushmantha Chameera has represented Sri Lanka in 12 Tests, 52 ODIs, and 55 T20Is, taking a total of 143 wickets across formats. However, his career has been plagued with injuries.
Sri Lanka is set to play a three-match T20I series, followed by as many ODIs against India. The T20I series is scheduled to commence on July 26 with the second and third T20Is set to be played on July 27 and 29 respectively.
