Sidra Ameen named ICC Women’s Player of the month for November 2022

DUBAI: Pakistan opener Sida Ameen won the prestigious ICC Women’s Player of the month award for November 2022.

International Cricket Council on Monday, named Sidra as the winner of the award following his sensational run with the bat in the home series against Ireland, scoring 277 runs in the three ODI games.

Thailand’s Natthakan Chantham and Ireland’s Gaby Lewis were the other two nominees for the award but the Pakistani opener came out on top and claimed the title.

Sidra played an incredible knock of 176 off 151 balls – the fifth-highest individual score in women’s ODI history – in the opening match of the series and stitched an astounding 221-run opening partnership with Muneeba Ali, who also raised a century in that match.

“The century was also Pakistan’s first score greater than 150 in women’s ODIs. She went on to make another brilliant contribution in the series at the same venue, making 91* in the second match as Pakistan completed a series victory,” said ICC in a media release issued on Monday.

Thanks to her brilliant performances, Sidra rose to the 22nd position on the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Ranking and is currently the highest-ranked batter of Pakistan on the list.

“I feel great to have won this award,” she said as quoted by the ICC. “It is also special following my teammate Nida Dar who won the award for October.”

“This shows our team has displayed some great performances in the past few months in international cricket. she added.

The 30-year-old opener further expressed that her performance with the bat against Ireland which helped the side to claim the sweep over Ireland in the ODI series would always remain close to her heart.

“Individually, this year has been great for me, I have scored three ODIs centuries and all coming this year. And to top it off, ending the year by winning the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for November is just amazing,” she said.
